Hypersonix's Most Frequently Asked Questions
Below are all of the questions we could remember having been asked in the past. If you have a question that's not on here, please feel free to email hypersonix@alivenetwork.com or call our agent, Verity Glenn, on 01782 383 540.
How much space do you need?
We usually require a 5x4 meter performance area but can adapt to as small as 4x2 meters. Our experience spans various venues, from grand barn conversions and manors to hotels, clubs, tipis, and marquees. This versatility allows us to create engaging performances, regardless of space constraints.
How is it best to time things?
Our timing schedule advice is a great way to help keep the evening flowing smoothly!
Here’s a few tips to consider:
Suggested Evening Schedule:
7:30pm - 8:45pm: Light background music - Sets a welcoming atmosphere as guests arrive
8:45pm - 9:00pm: Cut cake, first dance (if Wedding or Civil ceremony) - This time allows for key moments to be highlighted without feeling rushed
9:00pm - 10:00pm: First band set - Engaging the crowd early on helps build energy
10:00pm - 10:30pm: First DJ Playlist set - nice way to keep the party going with different music styles
10:30pm - 11:30pm: Second band set - Keeps the energy up; consider encouraging crowd favourites during this time
11:30pm - 12:00am: Second DJ set - Finishing strong with a DJ helps maintain excitement until the end
Additional Tips:
Evening Food: Placing it after the first band set is smart. Consider offering light snacks during the DJ set to keep guests energised without taking them away from the dance floor.
Flexibility in Sets: While 3x40 minutes is an option, we find 2 x 60 minutes’s more beneficial and allow us to be more adaptable to the crowd’s energy.
Our experience over the years is invaluable, and these suggestions can help enhance the flow even

Can I pick the bands playlist?
Our band has a tried-and-true setlist that consistently receives amazing feedback from a wide range of audiences. We take pride in performing each song in our own unique style, ensuring a lively atmosphere that keeps everyone entertained.
To help us create the best experience for you and your guests, we kindly ask that you refrain from picking our setlist. Instead, we invite you to share your preferences regarding the types of artists or music styles you enjoy or would prefer to avoid. This allows us to tailor the performance while maintaining the flow and energy that our setlist is known for.
Where will you travel to?
We are a vibrant party band based in Northamptonshire, and happy to travel across the UK and even internationally to bring music to you!
Can I see you play live?
Due to the nature of our work, it’s quite rare for us to perform at public gigs, especially as Weddings & Private parties are our speciality. However, when we do have the opportunity to play publicly, we’ll share the details on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
To stay updated on any last-minute public gigs, feel free to like our Facebook page: facebook.com/Hypersonixband and follow us on Instagram.
We hope to see you at one of our performances soon!
Will you learn our special song?
If there’s a special song you’d like us to play, just let us know! We’ll get back to you to confirm if it’s possible (please note: a charge may apply if the song is not in our repertoire).
Often, when a song holds special meaning, it’s nice to hear the original version you love, and we can certainly play that (free of charge) through our sound system.
Feel free to reach out with your requests!
Is the video on your website a true reflection of the band?
It really is. We have taken great care to make sure that the videos on our website and social media accurately show how we’ll sound at your event. We are adding live videos from events that we play in the coming year to our Facebook / Instagram account so stay tuned for more footage of us out in the wild.
How do I book you?
You can book us through the enquiry form on this website www.hypersonixband.co.uk or through our agent Alive Network. You can also email or call our booking agents at enquiries@alivenetwork.com or on 01782 740839 or email us at hypersonix@alivenetwork.com. You can also reach out to us via messages to any of our social media accounts.
Are you able to DJ in between sets?
We sure can and, if you book us within seven days of receiving our quote, we’ll do it for free!
Please note that we use Spotify to play through our soundsystem, but one of us will always be dj’ing to keep the dancefloor full and to take any requests that you or your guests may have.
Can we make DJ requests in advance to my event?
Of course you can, in fact we would actively encourage you to. It’s your event and we know how important those special songs are. We will make sure we have them downloaded and ready to go for you. You can even share entire playlists with us if you want and we’ll use them as a guide for the evening.
Can we use your sound system for speeches?
That’s absolutely no problem at all but please remember to consider what time you will need us to arrive in order to have everything set up in time for the speeches. If we need to arrive earlier, there may be an extra charge. We will happily provide you with a microphone and a band member will be on hand to man the sound system for you throughout the speeches.
What equipment do you use?
We use a high quality PA system comprising of 2 Yamaha DSR115 top speakers, and 2 Yamaha DXS1500 sub woofers. We have a singer using a wireless Shure microphone system, a guitarist, a bass guitarist and a drummer. We have the options of being completely “ampless” when using amp modelling pedals such as The Line 6 HX Stomp, and when even more control of sound is required, we have a top of the range Roland V drum electric drum kit. We have a digitally recallable Behringer XR18 front of house and in ear monitor system which saves a lot of time when setting up, which we can individually control via Ipads.
When booking us for an acoustic set, we have the option of using acoustic guitars, and can add a piano keyboard to that on request.
Do you have lights?
Yes we certainly have lights. They are essential to enhance the visual display of the band and dancefloor.
We have:
1x Equinox Mega Bar
1x Haze machine
1x Eurolite LED set
1x Cosmos Par Can lights on stands
2x 70 watt moving head lights
4x uplighters for on stage
How long do you play for?
Our standard set is two hours. This is usually broken down into 2 x 60 minute sets. 3 x 40 minute sets are also possible but we find that 2 x 60 minutes gives a much better experience for your guests. We are able to play for a little longer if required, for an additional fee, but two and a half hours is our limit for an evening.
We can however provide up to 60 minutes of an acoustic trio or full band earlier in the day should you wish to have live music at your drinks reception or meal.
What time do you start and finish?
Usually we start at around 8.30 but of course this will depend on your timings. We aim to finish live music by 11.30pm and then DJ for the remainder of the evening so that your guests don’t have to miss the last song when their taxi arrives early.
Our standard arrival time is 6pm and our standard finish time is midnight. Additional charges may apply if you need us to arrive earlier or stay later.
How long do you take to set up?
We need 90 minutes to set up and sound check at full volume to make sure that everything sounds great.
Can I provisionally book you?
We don’t take provisional bookings, purely because this could leave out a date in our calendar that could be filled by other clients on possible popular dates.
What if the band split up before my event?
This eventuality is rather rare for a professional party band. We make every effort to put dep musicians in place should one two of us not be available for some reason. If for any reason it was absolutely not possible for the band to play your event, we and our Agency Alive Network would make every effort to find a suitable replacement for you event.
Can my sisters/bosses/daughters dog sing with your band?
We always welcome singers to join in the fun with us on stage. We would however need adequate warning in advance to ensure that we have relevant microphones and channels and monitoring in place for your performance with us.
What will the band wear?
By default, we come wearing a smart/casual indie rock band vibe. However, we always communicate with the client prior to the event and ask if there are any specific clothing requirements for the day, For example, a more formal black tie requirement. We are more than happy to wear whatever you see fit.
Does the band have PAT and PLI certificates?
Absolutely. All our PAT and PLI certificates are always in place and are fully up to date.
Why should I book Hypersonix?
You should book Hypersonix because of our professional attitude and communication before, during and after at all events, and our ability to deliver quality music to entertain you and your audience and keep you on the dancefloor all night long!
How much does it cost to book the band?
Our pricing starts at £1,417 + travel based on 4 members performing 2 x 60 minute sets. Head on over to https://www.alivenetwork.com/Hypersonix, to get a more specific costing based on your location in the UK and any add-ons required.
Can we see some previous client testimonials?
Of course. Check out our testimonials here.
Do Hypersonix have any specific requirements?
We’re a pretty low-maintenance band, but there are a few things that we do request, to ensure that we are properly prepared for our performance:
- Somewhere to change (if possible) and warm-up for the gig. This should be a secure room where we can comfortably relax before and between performances, and somewhere we can eat.
- Hot meal for 4 people (we have no food allergies) Ideally before our first set or by 8pm (If this is aproblem, please speak to us before the day of the event) Soft drinks, bottled water (for the room and stage), tea and coffee etc. If it’s easier, a tab at the bar is also fine.
What type/size venues are you able to play at?
We are able to play in any size venue you require. Each of our members have over 20 years experience playing in the smallest of pubs to large capacity venues, in doors and out doors.
How loud will the band be?
We can be as loud or as quiet as you like, provided the sound quality does not suffer as a result. Many venues have restrictions on sound levels in place as a result of legal requirements. We have up to date modern equipment to unsure we have full control over sound and noise levels. Our wireless amp and monitor systems along with electric drumkit mean if required we have full control over sound levels, and have no boomy “blead” coming from guitar amplifiers or monitors. We would advise anyone wishing to book us at a venue with a sound limiter set to less than 90db to be warned that the sound quality of a live band performance could seriously suffer.
What is the band power requirement?
We always say the more plug sockets the better. Our absolute minimal requirement would ideally by 2 double 13 amp sockets.
Do Hypersonix offer any additional services?
We have a few additional booking options available when you book us. For an additional fee we can provide a Song request that is not already within our repertoire. An acoustic set can be offered, for example if you require something a bit more laid back during an afternoon wedding or event. There is also the ability to add on a 1am finish to proceedings.
